Welcome to a new idea. This is the first issue of Proteus to be printed in the new larger
format. If it is well received it will be the first of a permanent change. Please let Ernie or myself
know by letter, phone or e-mail just what you think of the change. This issue was prepared by a
real printer and arrived folded and stapled, ready to be labeled and mutilated. We undertook this
experiment due the lack of response to the Fold, Staple and Mutilate parties. Only the usual
suspects have been coming for at least a year. Also, several people have told me that they could
host the party if we didn't need the space for folding and stapling.
This is only one of the shifts we are trying in the waning days of my term of office. We
will also be moving our Monthly Speaker's meeting to the second Sunday of the Month at 5 PM
for dinner, to be followed by the Speaker at 6 PM. We will be meeting at a restaurant, ordering
from the menu and eating in the private room. Those who do not join us for dinner will be
welcome to come for the speaker and maybe enjoy coffee, tea and or dessert during the meeting.
This is an experiment and we will be moving around from month to month, Jersey, Delaware
County, Chester County and Bucks County. If we can find a way we will also include evenings
in town as well. We are hoping for in increased attendance and a new audience. This time you get
to "vote with your feet". If you show up enough to make it worthwhile we will continue with the
change. The plan at present calls for at least a year of the rotation to give it a good chance for
success.
As mentioned above, we are going to be electing a new President and ExComm this year.
Look for the ballot in the April issue along with candidate statements. Mensa will also be
electing a new AMC in April. The ballot for that election will be in the April issue of the
Bulletin. Your vote is important to both elections, please take the time to fill out the ballots and
mail them to the appropriate addresses.
