Letter From The Editor

First, a public thank you to all the people who contacted me with kind comments about the look, feel and content of Proteus. Susan and I do not always succeed, but we do try! I have been receiving a lot of submissions for our newsletter, and try to publish as many of them as possible. (Already we have two new authors for next month plus those in this one). To have the greatest chance of publication, please e-mail your submission, keep letters to 250 words, articles to 400 words, and remember the rule about no ad hominem attacks. If you have a paid ad, it must be camera ready (in the form of a .gif or a .jpeg) or it will not look like what was submitted. This is a technical problem I do not know how to overcome. If there is someone out there with a background in graphics, PLEASE let me know, I could really use your help. I wish to reiterate something to which Pete alluded in Herding Cats. VOTE. Vote in the ExComm election. Vote in the By-Laws election. The people who make up ExComm, and those members who attend the meetings as interested bystanders (several of whom are running in this election) work hard to make this the best organization they know how. They give freely of their time and their talents, work hard to come up with programs and events. Support them by voting. Read the ExComm Minutes (in this issue and on the web) to see the sorts of things that get accomplished. Contact information for all candidates was published last month (and is still available on this website): call people you don't know, and see what they want to do with their terms., if elected, or re-elected. Read the By-Laws, current and proposed. Read the National Standards to which the proposed By-Laws were written. See what you think. Let us know what you think with your vote! This is YOUR organization and your vote truly counts. |
